Biography:

Sandy Merritt was exposed to her love of art when in her early twenties she learned portrait painting. Sandy relishes working in many genres because she enjoys things that interest her.   “I paint things I’m drawn to, currently portraits because I’m driven by a love of the stories the faces tell and their secrets,” she says. Through the years she continued learning her craft through life drawing and painting classes at Wayne State University receiving her BBA degree.   Expanding her craft, she was able to learn from famed sculptor, Sergio di Giusti who taught life drawing at Cranbrook Institute in Michigan. After retiring she has studied with many fine artists, most recently with Christine Lytwynczuk and Dinah Jasensky, both featured artists at the Mountain Oyster Club of Tucson in 2009. Her work resides in many private collections both in Tucson and across the country.   Her artwork can be viewed at Full Moon on Main Gallery in Bisbee as well as Gallery 2402.
