BIO
Harriet Haber Hason
The Visual Arts have always been a passion and focus of Harriet Hason’s life.   Born and
raised in New York, Harriet graduated from Pratt Institute where she received her
undergraduate and graduate degrees in Art.
Harriet had a successful and fulfilling career as an Art educator in New York City,
Kingston, New York and Nyack, New York.   She completed her professional career as the
Visual Arts Coordinator for the Nyack Public Schools.
For over thirty years, Harriet’s focus has been to promote the Visual Arts for students
and educators.   Today, that energy is focused on creating personal art works.
Although she has been a sculptor, potter and painter for years, her current work is focused
on the spirit and color of the West (Arizona) and the spirit, color and energy of East Africa.
East paintings reflect the magnificent animal life and beautiful Masai people of Tanzania.   Her
larger acrylic paintings present a narrative approach to depicting Tanzanian life.
West works include mixed media drawings and acrylic paintings referencing Native American
imagery, landscapes and Mexican pots.   The acrylic paintings of Talavera pots focus on
pattern, color and design.
Both themes are linked by color, pattern and design.
